A teacher from the department of Cabañas reported that Physical Education and English teachers are being sent to other schools to carry out the sizing of the students’ uniforms. According to him, this situation creates a work overload for the teachers at the institutions.
The teacher, who asked that his identity be kept anonymous for fear of reprisals, explained that this task is being assigned to recently graduated teachers at different schools in Cabañas, San Vicente and the paracentral zone, who must travel to educational institutions to which they are not assigned in order to take the students’ measurements and determine the sizes of their uniforms.
In the teacher’s view, active teachers should not be used for that type of assignment, and it should be administrative personnel from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT) designated for that activity.
He indicated that the other teachers are sent to schools in hard-to-reach cantons, during morning and afternoon hours, and that they are even the ones who must drive the vehicles in which they travel.
According to the information shared by MINEDUCYT, the uniform sizing began on September 28, and standardized templates, an immediate digital record and greater precision and speed are being used.
The ministry reported that these measures seek to ensure that the 2027 School Package is ready and complete for the start of classes next year and that they are in the “correct sizes”.
Radio YSUCA contacted the communications department of the Ministry of Education to learn its position on this complaint; at the time this report was completed, no official response had been received.
