The Consumer Price Index rose 0.45% in September, while cumulative inflation between December 2025 and September 2026 reached 3.6%, according to BCR data. — El Índice de Precios al Consumidor subió 0.45 % en septiembre, mientras la inflación acumulada entre diciembre de 2025 y septiembre de 2026 alcanzó 3.6 %, según datos del BCR.

El Salvador’s cumulative inflation reached 3.6% between December 2025 and September 2026, according to data from the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which went from 130.89 points at the close of last year to 135.6 in September.

In September alone, monthly inflation was 0.45%, the result of the increase in the general index from 134.99 points in August to 135.6 in September. Since December 2025, the cumulative increase in prices during 2026 is 3.6%.

Among the divisions that increased the most during 2026, transport stands out. Its index went from 110.53 points in December 2025 to 120.91 in September, equivalent to a cumulative increase of 9.4%. Between August and September alone, this category recorded an increase of 1.4%.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages also posted a cumulative change of 4.7%, going from 155.38 points in December to 162.64 in September. Compared with August, when it stood at 161.51 points, the monthly increase was 0.7%.

Another category that increased was restaurants and hotels, whose index advanced from 165.03 points in December 2025 to 170.61 in September, equivalent to an increase of 3.4%. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, meanwhile, went from 148.46 to 152.19 points, a change of 2.5%.

Health recorded an increase of 2.1% between December and September, advancing from 116 to 118.44 points. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by around 1.6%, while miscellaneous goods and services increased 2% during the same period.

In contrast, some divisions showed decreases compared with the close of 2025. Clothing and footwear went from 100.11 points in December to 99.53 in September, an approximate decrease of 0.6%. Furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance fell back from 111.88 to 112.5 points, so, in reality, it recorded an approximate increase of 0.6%, while the category of communications fell from 79.99 to 79.6 points.

The data show that the general index increased during each month of 2026: it went from 131 points in January to 131.6 in February, 132.18 in March, 133.12 in April, 133.74 in May, 134.48 in June, 134.55 in July, 134.99 in August and 135.6 in September.

La inflación acumulada de El Salvador alcanzó 3.6 % entre diciembre de 2025 y septiembre de 2026, según los datos del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC) del Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), que pasó de 130.89 puntos al cierre del año pasado a 135.6 en septiembre.

Solo durante septiembre, la inflación mensual fue de 0.45 %, resultado del aumento del índice general desde 134.99 puntos en agosto hasta 135.6 en septiembre. Desde diciembre de 2025, el incremento acumulado de los precios durante 2026 es de 3.6 %.

Entre las divisiones que más aumentaron durante 2026 destaca el transporte. Su índice pasó de 110.53 puntos en diciembre de 2025 a 120.91 en septiembre, equivalente a un incremento acumulado de 9.4 %. Solo entre agosto y septiembre, esta categoría registró un aumento de 1.4 %.

Los alimentos y bebidas no alcohólicas también acumuló una variación del 4.7%, pasando de 155.38 puntos en diciembre a 162.64 en septiembre. Frente a agosto, cuando se situó en 161.51 puntos, el aumento mensual fue de 0.7 %.

Otra categoría que aumentó fue restaurantes y hoteles, cuyo índice avanzó desde 165.03 puntos en diciembre de 2025 hasta 170.61 en septiembre, equivalente a un incremento de 3.4 %. Alojamiento, agua, electricidad, gas y otros combustibles, entretanto, pasó de 148.46 a 152.19 puntos, una variación de 2.5 %.

Salud registró un incremento de 2.1 % entre diciembre y septiembre, al avanzar de 116 a 118.44 puntos. Las bebidas alcohólicas y tabaco subieron alrededor de 1.6 %, mientras bienes y servicios diversos aumentaron 2 % durante el mismo período.

En contraste, algunas divisiones mostraron reducciones frente al cierre de 2025. Prendas de vestir y calzado pasó de 100.11 puntos en diciembre a 99.53 en septiembre, una disminución aproximada de 0.6 %. Muebles, artículos para el hogar y conservación ordinaria del hogar retrocedió de 111.88 a 112.5 puntos, por lo que, en realidad, registró un aumento aproximado de 0.6 %, mientras el rubro de comunicaciones bajó de 79.99 a 79.6 puntos.

Los datos muestran que el índice general aumentó durante cada mes de 2026: pasó de 131 puntos en enero a 131.6 en febrero, 132.18 en marzo, 133.12 en abril, 133.74 en mayo, 134.48 en junio, 134.55 en julio, 134.99 en agosto y 135.6 en septiembre.
