Veterans of the Armed Forces of El Salvador (FAES) who registered in 2025 to receive their pension have yet to receive the benefit, as the Institute for the Administration of Veterans’ Benefits (INABVE) has not yet received the fund transfer to do so.
Those affected by the nonpayment of their pensions told LA PRENSA GRÁFICA that there is a “delay” in payments and that nearly 3,000 have not received the benefit since January 2026.
“They told us they were waiting for the supplemental funding, which was already done in April of this year. But today they say they can’t pay because the Ministry of Finance still hasn’t made the transfer to them,” said one of those involved.
The veterans argue that because government institutions keep information under seal, they have been unable to verify whether INABVE’s response is true, as they have no access to the institution’s budget. This outlet sought a response from the Institute through a message sent to its current president, Daniel Platero, but as of press time he had not responded.
Sources inside INABVE who requested anonymity explained that while the addition of new members to the veterans’ registry was approved for 2026, the institution’s budget did not receive an increase, which delayed benefit payments. They added that efforts are already under way, but that there is no exact date to finalize it.
In May of this year, the Legislative Assembly approved transferring $25 million to INABVE because the institute absorbed the National Council for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (CONAIPD), the National Comprehensive Council for Older Adults (CONAIPAM), and the Ministry of Local Development.

Cerca de 3 mil veteranos de la FAES no han recibido pensión en 2026

Los veteranos de la Fuerza Armada de El Salvador (FAES) que se inscribieron en 2025 para recibir su pensión aún no reciben el beneficio, debido a que el Instituto Administrados de los Beneficios de los Veteranos y Excombatientes (INABVE) aún no recibe la transferencia de fondos para ello.
Afectados por el impago de sus pensiones expresaron a LA PRENSA GRÁFICA que hay un “atraso” en los pagos y que son cerca de tres mil los que no reciben el beneficio desde el mes de enero de 2026.
“Nos dijeron que estaban esperando el refuerzo presupuestario, el cual ya se hizo en abril de este año. Pero hoy dicen que no pueden pagar porque el Ministerio de Hacienda aún no les ha hecho la transferencia”, declaró uno de los involucrados.
Los veteranos argumentan que debido a las reservas de información en las instituciones gubernamentales no han podido corroborar si la respuesta del INABVE es real, pues no tienen acceso al presupuesto de la institución. Este medio buscó una versión del Instituto a través de un mensaje enviado a su actual presidente, Daniel Platero, pero al cierre de esta nota no se había pronunciado.
Fuentes al interior del INABVE que pidieron anonimato explicaron que si bien se aprobó que hubiesen nuevos integrantes en el registro de veteranos para este año 2026, el presupuesto de la institución no tuvo un aumento, lo cual retrasó el pago de los beneficios. Añadió que ya se hacen las gestiones para ello, pero que no hay una fecha exacta para concretarlo.
En mayo de este año la Asamblea Legislativa aprobó trasladar $25 millones al INABVE debido a que este absorbió al Consejo Nacional para la Inclusión de las Personas con Discapacidad (CONAIPD), el Consejo Nacional Integral de la Persona Adulta Mayor (CONAIPAM) y el Ministerio de Desarrollo Local.
