Legislative Assembly President Ernesto Castro said the legislative body will not increase its budget for 2027 and that it will remain at the figure approved for 2026: $46,996,257.

Castro told a group of reporters that budget planning is carried out by a committee made up of department heads, managers, and a representative of the board, a role held by lawmaker Elisa Rosales in her capacity as first secretary.

“There aren’t going to be any changes, it’s not going to increase by a single cent, it’s going to stay at $46,996,257, just as we’ve been doing, delivering on the savings we committed to,” Castro said.

According to the politician, the Legislative Assembly has accumulated savings of “almost $34 million compared to the budget we found on May 1, 2021,” something the Nuevas Ideas lawmaker described as a savings measure that is “concrete, with figures, with facts.”

The budget approved for 2021 amounted to $58.3 million, a difference of $11,303,743 from the current budget of $46.9 million. Nuevas Ideas lawmakers began their term on May 1, 2021.

In 2022 and 2023, the budget stood at $57.6 million, a figure $0.7 million lower than in 2021. In 2024, the legislature had a budget of $53.9 million, $4.4 million less than in 2021; and in 2025 and 2026, the budget has been $11.3 million less than in 2021.

From 1999 to 2010, the Legislative Assembly’s budget ranged between $12.5 million and $45.8 million.

Starting in 2011, funding for the Assembly exceeded that threshold, rising from $53.5 million year by year to a peak of $59 million in 2016.

There are currently 60 lawmakers. From 1999 to 2024, there were 84.

El presidente de la Asamblea Legislativa, Ernesto Castro, aseguró el Órgano Legislativo no aumentará su presupuesto para el año 2027 y que se mantendrá en la cifra aprobada para el año 2026: $46,996,257.

Castro relató a un grupo de periodistas que la planificación presupuestaria se realiza en una mesa compuesta por jefaturas, gerencias y una representación de la junta directiva, que ejerce la diputada Elisa Rosales en su cargo de primer secretaria.

“No van a haber cambios, no va a aumentar un solo centavo, se va a mantener en los $46,996,257 tal como hemos venido haciéndolo, concretando ese ahorro que nosotros nos comprometimos», afirmó Castro.

Según el político, la Asamblea Legislativa lleva acumulado un ahorro de «casi $34 millones respecto al presupuesto que nosotros encontramos el 1 de mayo de 2021», algo que el legislador cian calificó de una medida de ahorro «concreta, con cifras, con hechos».

El presupuesto aprobado para el año 2021 ascendió a $58.3 millones, una diferencia de $11,303,743 respecto al presupuesto actual de $46.9 millones. Los diputados de Nuevas Ideas iniciaron su gestión el 1 de mayo de 2021.

En 2022 y 2023, el presupuesto ascendió a $57.6 millones, una cifra 0.7 millón menor que en 2021. En 2024, el Legislativo tuvo un presupuesto de $53.9 millones, $4.4 millones menos que en 2021; y en 2025 y 2026, la el presupuesto ha sido $11.3 millones menor al de 2021.

Desde 1999 hasta 2010, el presupuesto de la Asamblea Legislativa osciló entre los $12.5 millones y los $45.8 millones.

A partir de 2011 los fondos destinados a la Asamblea superaron ese umbral desde $53.5 millones subiendo año a su máximo en el año 2016, cuando fue de $59 millones.

Los diputados actualmente son 60. De 1999 a 2024 fueron 84.
