The police (PNC) reported the arrest, in Santa Ana, of three members of the force belonging to the Anti-Narcotics Division, who are accused of bribery following a complaint filed by a citizen.
Those detained were identified as:
- Alfredo N., age 49
- Carlos M., age 41
- Josué P., age 31
According to the official report, the incident occurred at a checkpoint set up on the highway leading from San Cristóbal Frontera to Santa Ana.
The officers ordered the driver of a pickup truck to pull over.
According to the victim’s complaint, the officers skipped the proper search protocols and brought a canine into the vehicle, causing damage to documents of importance to the citizen.
After the driver complained about the material damage, the officers allegedly demanded a payment of $200, threatening that he would face greater complications if he did not hand over the money.
They then allowed the driver to leave after requesting his cell phone number, through which they later demanded a sum of $500.
The victim filed a formal complaint with the authorities, providing the evidence in the case, which led to the arrest of the three officers.
The police confirmed that the accused will be turned over to the corresponding judicial body and that, in parallel, internal disciplinary proceedings will be initiated to determine their removal from the force.
“Bad elements will be purged from our institution,” the police wrote in a message shared on X.

Detienen a 3 policías por exigir $500 en Santa Ana

La Policía Nacional Civil (PNC) informó sobre la captura, en Santa Ana, de tres miembros de su corporación pertenecientes a la División Antinarcóticos, quienes son acusados del delito de cohecho tras la denuncia interpuesta por un ciudadano.
Los detenidos fueron identificados como:
- Alfredo N., de 49 años
- Carlos M., de 41 años
- Josué P., de 31 años
De acuerdo con el reporte oficial, el hecho ocurrió durante un retén instalado en la carretera que conduce de San Cristóbal Frontera hacia Santa Ana.
Los agentes ordenaron detenerse al conductor de un vehículo tipo pick-up.
Según la denuncia de la víctima, los policías omitieron los protocolos correspondientes para el registro e introdujeron a un canino al interior del automóvil, lo que causó daños en documentos de importancia para el ciudadano.
Tras el reclamo del conductor por los daños materiales, los agentes presuntamente le exigieron el pago de $200 bajo la amenaza de que enfrentaría mayores complicaciones si no entregaba el dinero.
Posteriormente, permitieron que el conductor se retirara del lugar tras solicitarle su número de teléfono celular, vía por la cual le exigieron más tarde una suma de $500.
La víctima presentó la denuncia formal ante las autoridades aportando los elementos de prueba del caso, lo que derivó en la detención de los tres uniformados.
La institución policial confirmó que los imputados serán puestos a disposición del órgano judicial correspondiente y que, de forma paralela, se iniciará el proceso disciplinario interno para determinar su depuración de la fuerza laboral.
