Uniform suppliers reported this Thursday, July 23, that they did not receive the fabric the Ministry of Education (MINED) had promised to deliver so they could begin making the garments for 2027.

Today, representatives of the uniform suppliers were called to a meeting with staff from the School Package Provision Program, but it was canceled at the last minute without any reason being given.

Javier Ramírez, a uniform supplier from Sonsonate, said there is uncertainty within the sector due to MINED’s lack of planning.

“We’re asking them to be clear with us, to give us a meeting date, because they didn’t even tell us that. We don’t know what day they’re going to give us the fabric — that creates complete uncertainty for us, and it worries us,” Ramírez stated.

For his part, Eusebio Alfaro, coordinator for La Paz and representative of 200 suppliers, said they were notified of today’s meeting a month ago.

“A month ago (June 23), the ministry’s authorities scheduled a meeting for us where, on this very day, they were going to give us the fabric and the uniform sizes. However, we saw the email the group received, which shows that at 8:15 in the morning they sent a message saying there would be no meeting and that they didn’t know why,” Alfaro explained.

The microbusiness owner asked MINED to “be clear” with them and to determine whether they will continue making the garments for public schools, because if the fabric is delivered late, production falls behind. He said they urgently need an answer.

“They met us in the parking lot (at MINED), and there they told us they didn’t know the reasons why the meeting had been canceled, and that they couldn’t give us a date because it didn’t depend on them either, but on the ministry’s authorities,” he stated.

What worries the microbusiness owners is how little time they will have to make the garments if the delivery of materials keeps getting delayed.

“Time is running out, and we’re about to head into the (August) vacation period, and this is dragging on even longer. We’re still in the month of July, so they might tell us tomorrow or the day after (that they’ll deliver the fabric) — we don’t know. We’re waiting for that response. They tell us yes, that we’re going to coordinate the reports, that we’re going to continue, but we have nothing concrete,” said Juan Antonio Beltrán, one of the coordinators for San Salvador, who represents around 800 suppliers.

For Jesús Guadrón, coordinator for the department of Cuscatlán, who represents 105 microbusiness owners, the fabric must be delivered between June and July in order to have the garments ready on time for the 2027 school year. She said MINED is “dragging its feet” on the situation.

“This meeting was important to me because we’re already at the end of July, and there’s very little time left before August. Then come the vacations, and it all drags out even longer. They have always delivered the fabric between June and July,” Guadrón said.

LA PRENSA GRÁFICA sent an email today to MINED’s communications officer to ask her why the meeting was canceled and when they plan to deliver the fabric. At the moment, a response is pending.

Proveedores de uniformes en incertidumbre: MINED aún no entrega la tela

Proveedores de uniformes informaron este jueves 23 de julio que no recibieron la tela que el Ministerio de Educación (MINED) había prometido entregarles para comenzar con la confección de las prendas de 2027.

Este día, los representantes de proveedores de uniformes fueron citados a una reunión con personal del Programa de Dotación de Paquetes Escolares, pero a última hora fue cancelada sin que se les brindara una razón.

Javier Ramírez, proveedor de uniformes de Sonsonate, mencionó que dentro del sector hay incertidumbre debido a la falta de planificación del MINED.

“Estamos pidiendo que sean claros con nosotros, que nos digan una fecha de reunión, porque no nos dijeron ni eso. No sabemos si nos van a dar la tela tal día, eso nos provoca una incertidumbre completa y nos preocupa”, aseveró Ramírez.

Por su parte, Eusebio Alfaro, coordinador de La Paz y representante de 200 proveedores, mencionó que desde hace un mes se les notificó de la reunión de hoy.

“Hace un mes (23 de junio) las autoridades del ministerio nos habían agendado una reunión donde precisamente este día nos iban a dar a nosotros la tela y el tallaje de los uniformes. Sin embargo, vemos el correo electrónico que tiene la agrupación, donde aparece que a las 8:15 de la mañana ellos mandaron el correo diciendo que no iba a haber reunión y que desconocían el por qué”, detalló Alfaro.

El microempresario pidió al MINED que “sean claros” con ellos y que determinen si continuarán elaborando las prendas para las escuelas públicas, pues si la tela la entregan tarde, la producción se retrasa. Dijo que urgen de una respuesta.

“Nos recibieron en el parqueo (del MINED) y allí nos dijeron que desconocían las razones del por qué se había cancelado la reunión y que fecha no nos podían dar porque tampoco dependía de ellos, sino de las autoridades del ministerio”, aseveró.

A los microempresarios lo que les preocupa es el poco tiempo disponible para elaborar las prendas si se continúa retrasando la entrega de los materiales.

“El tiempo se está terminando y vamos a entrar en época de vacaciones (de agosto) y esto se está alargando más. Todavía estamos en el mes de julio, entonces puede que nos digan mañana o pasado (que entregarán la tela), no sabemos. Estamos a la espera de esa respuesta. Ellos manifiestan que sí, que nosotros vamos a coordinar los informes, que vamos a continuar, pero no tenemos nada concreto”, mencionó Juan Antonio Beltrán, uno de los coordinadores de San Salvador y que representa a alrededor de 800 proveedores.

Para Jesús Guadrón, coordinadora del departamento de Cuscatlán y quien representa a 105 microempresarios, para salir a tiempo con la entrega de las prendas para el año escolar 2027, las telas debe ser entregadas entre junio y julio y consideró que el MINED está “dándole largas” a la situación.

“Esta reunión para mí era importante porque se supone que ya estamos a finales de julio y lo que queda para agosto ya es poco. Vienen las vacaciones, se alarga más el tiempo. La tela siempre la han entregado entre junio y julio”, dijo Guadrón.

LA PRENSA GRÁFICA envió hoy un correo electrónico a la encargada de comunicaciones del MINED para consultarle cuál fue la razón por la que se canceló la reunión y cuándo prevén entregar la tela. Al momento se está a la espera de una respuesta.
