ARENA lawmaker Marcela Villatoro stated that she registered as a pre-candidate to seek reelection to the Legislative Assembly through her party.
She said 11 other people filed alongside her to seek seats in the San Salvador district.
The lawmaker highlighted the joint effort the candidates are carrying out, in contrast with the differences that have been aired publicly within the Vamos party.
“In San Salvador, 12 of us are running for legislative seats, and we all have a good relationship. We’re supporting each other out in the field,” she told reporters.
According to Villatoro, the other departments will also have single slates, and only in the municipality of San Salvador Centro are there two contenders who will face off in the internal election, as both Alejandro Nóchez and Odina Ramos registered as mayoral pre-candidates.
“Both have a track record of hard work. I’ve always said I admire the work of current councilman Alejandro Nóchez, who was mayor of Ayutuxtepeque for many years. And well, it will be the base that decides,” she said.

Marcela Villatoro confirma que buscará reelección

La diputada Marcela Villatoro, de ARENA, afirmó que se inscribió como precandidata para reelegirse en la Asamblea Legislativa por su partido.
Junto a ella, dijo, se presentaron otras 11 personas que buscarán una diputación en la circunscripción de San Salvador.
La diputada destacó el trabajo conjunto que los postulantes se encuentran desarrollando, en contraste con las diferencias que se han ventilado públicamente en el partido Vamos.
“En San Salvador vamos 12 candidatos a diputados, todos tenemos buena relación. Estamos acompañando mutuamente el territorio”, afirmó a periodistas.
Según indicó Villatoro, el resto de departamentos tendrá planillas únicas también y solo en el municipio de San Salvador Centro existen dos propuestas que se enfrentarán en la elección interna, pues se postularon como precandidatos a alcaldes Alejandro Nóchez y Odina Ramos.
“Ambos tienen una carrera de mucho trabajo. Yo siempre he dicho que admiro el trabajo que hace el actual concejal Alejandro Nochez, que fue alcalde por muchos años de Ayutextepeque. Y bueno, serán las bases quienes decidan”, afirmó.
