El Salvador now records a total of 1,054,695 Salvadorans residing in the United States with an enabled Unique Identity Document (DUI), out of a total of 6.5 million Salvadorans who would be eligible to vote in the 2027 elections.

These are Salvadoran people who have an identity document from El Salvador with a domicile or address in the United States. These individuals, with a DUI domiciled in that country, will be eligible to cast remote electronic votes in the general elections on February 28, 2027.

If compared to the number of compatriots reported as of May 1, 919,852, there is an increase of at least 134,843 Salvadorans residing in the United States over three months, according to the figure managed by the national registrar of natural persons, Fernando Velasco.

The difference would imply that the register of voters residing in the United States has grown at a rate of 44,947 per month over that quarter, according to calculations made with data provided by the platform on July 7 and by the national registrar on May 7, 2026.

As of July 7, the total number of Salvadorans abroad with an enabled DUI is 1,099,259, a difference of 137,569 Salvadorans compared to the 961,690 registered on May 1, 2026 by the National Registry of Natural Persons (RNPN).

After the United States, the countries with the most Salvadorans residing abroad are 13,265 with an address in Italy, 11,958 in Spain, 8,289 in Canada, 1,871 in Costa Rica, and 1,343 in Australia, all with an ‘enabled’ DUI and all as ‘enabled’ citizens.

The RNPN registrar, Fernando Velasco, reported on Monday, May 4, 2026, a total of 961,690 Salvadorans with a domicile abroad registered with valid and expired DUIs, with figures updated as of May 1. At that time, there were 919,852 Salvadorans residing in the United States, followed by Italy, with 11,890; and the states with the most Salvadorans were California, with 236,176, Texas with 144,556, and New York, with 105,261.

According to the RNPN portal, the citizen’s ‘enabled’ status refers to the legal or vital condition of the person, for example if they are alive and with full rights, so the register does not include deceased persons or people in ‘administrative suspension’ such as those convicted of a crime.

Likewise, the enabled status of the DUI refers to the situation of the document itself, whether it is active and valid for use. To obtain the data of Salvadorans residing in the United States, both variables were filtered.

Salvadoreños domiciliados en EE. UU. ya superarían el millón en el registro electoral según portal del RNPN

El Salvador ya registra un total de 1,054,695 salvadoreños domiciliados en los Estados Unidos con Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) habilitado , de un total de 6.5 millones de salvadoreños que formarían parte de las personas que estarían aptas para votar en las elecciones 2027.

Se trata de las personas salvadoreñas que tiene documento de identidad de El Salvador con domicilio o dirección de los Estados Unidos. Estas personas, con DUI domiciliado en dicha nación, estarán habilitadas para realizar voto electrónico remoto en las elecciones generales del 28 de febrero de 2027.

Si se compara con la cantidad de compatriotas reportada hasta el 1 de mayo pasado, 919,852 , se puede ver un aumento al menos de 134,843 salvadoreños domiciliados en Estados Unidos a lo largo de tres meses, según la cifra manejada por el registrador nacional de las personas naturales, Fernando Velasco.

La diferencia implicaría que aproximadamente el registro de electores domiciliados en los Estados Unidos ha crecido a ritmo de 44,947 mensuales a lo largo de dicho trimestre , según cálculos realizados con los datos proveídos por la plataforma el 7 de julio y por el registrador nacionale, el 7 de mayo de 2026.

Hasta el 7 de julio, el total de salvadoreños en el exterior con DUI habilitado son 1,099,259, una diferencia de 137,569 salvadoreños respecto a los 961,690 registrados el 1 de mayo de 2026 por el Registro Nacional de las Personas Naturales (RNPN).

Después de Estados Unidos, los países con más salvadoreños domiciliados en el extranjero son 13,265 con dirección en Italia, 11,958 en España, 8,289 en Canadá, 1,871 en Costa Rica y 1,343 en Australia, todos con DUI “habilitado” y todos en calidad de ciudadano “habilitado”.

El registrador del RNPN, Fernando Velasco, reportó el lunes 4 de mayo de 2026 un total de 961,690 salvadoreños con domicilio en el exterior inscritos con DUI vigentes y vencidos, con cifras actualizadas hasta el 1 de mayo. En ese entonces, se registraban 919,852 salvadoreños domiciliados en Estados Unidos, seguidos de Italia, con 11,890; y los estados con más salvadoreños eran California, con 236,176, Texas con 144,556, y Nueva York, con 105,261.

De acuerdo al portal del RNPN, el estado “habilitado” del ciudadano se refiere a la condición legal o vital de la persona, por ejemplo si está vivo y con plenos derechos, por lo que el registro no incluye difuntos ni personas en situación de “suspensión administrativa” como las personas condenadas por un delito.

Así mismo, el estado habilitado del DUI se refiere a la situación del documento en sí mismo, si está activo y es válido para su uso. Para obtener el dato de los salvadoreños domiciliados en los Estados Unidos, se filtraron bajo ambas variables.
