A total of 960,928 Salvadorans abroad are included in the Electoral Registry as of April 2026, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) published on Monday, May 11, citing the figure provided by the president of the electoral body, Roxana Soriano.
The TSE also indicated that it is recording a 29.7% increase in the Foreign Electoral Registry compared to the registry that closed—two years and nine months ago—for the 2024 general elections.
As of March 6, 2026, the TSE had reported 944,684 Salvadorans on the Foreign Electoral Registry, which at that point represented a 27% increase compared to the 741,094 Salvadorans abroad who were on the 2024 Electoral Registry.
Compared to the Foreign Registry figure provided by the TSE on March 6—944,684 Salvadorans abroad—this number has grown by 16,244 registrations, an average of more than 8,122 registrations per month during March and April 2026.
Based on figures handled by the National Registry of Natural Persons (RNPN), the registration of Salvadorans abroad has slowed down, growing by 4,773 during the month of April 2026, less than the monthly average of 6,023 during the first quarter of 2026. The slowdown also applies relative to the fourth quarter of 2023, before the 2024 elections, when it grew by 17,476 in a single month.
The TSE’s data is updated with information transferred to it by the RNPN every 15 days. “We have an interconnection where we are feeding them data every 15 days or on key dates,” RNPN director Fernando Velasco said on May 4.

Un total de 960,928 salvadoreños en el exterior están incluidos en el Registro Electoral hasta abril de 2026, publicó el lunes 11 de mayo el Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE), retomando la cifra proveída por la presidenta del órgano electoral, Roxana Soriano.
El TSE a la vez indicó que registra un aumento del 29.7 % en el Registro Electoral del Extranjero en comparación con el Registro que cerró –hace dos años y nueve meses– para las elecciones generales de 2024.
Hasta el 6 de marzo de 2026, el TSE había reportado 944,684 salvadoreños en el Registro electoral del extranjero, por lo que en ese momento se registraba un aumento del 27 % respecto a los 741,094 salvadoreños en el exterior que estaban en el Registro Electoral 2024.
Respecto a la cifra del Registro Exterior proporcionada por el TSE el 6 de marzo, 944,684 salvadoreños en el exterior, este ha aumentado en 16,244 registros, más de 8,122 registros mensuales en promedio durante marzo y abril de 2026.
Con las cifras manejadas por el Registro Nacional de las Personas Naturales (RNPN), el registro de salvadoreños en el exterior se ha desacelerado , ya que creció 4,773 del durante el mes de abril de 2026, menos que el promedio mensual de 6,023 que hubo durante el trimestre primero de 2026. La desaceleración ocurre también respecto al trimestre cuarto del año 2023, antes de las elecciones de 2024, cuando llegó a crecer 17,476 en un mes.
Los datos del TSE son actualizados con datos que le traslada el RNPN cada 15 días. «Estamos con una interconexión en donde nosotros estamos alimentándole cada 15 días o en fechas determinantes», dijo el director del RNPN, Fernando Velasco, el 4 de mayo pasado.
