President Nayib Bukele once again criticized the work of human rights organizations on his official account on the social media platform X. This time the president declared that “the world urgently needs to free itself from these organizations” and that they will “never” listen to their opinions.
The statement was shared alongside a post about the case of Noelia, a 25-year-old woman with paraplegia who requested euthanasia in Spain and is set to undergo the procedure this Thursday. The case went viral after the young woman gave a television interview explaining the reasons behind her decision.
According to reports by Spanish media, Noelia was the victim of a gang rape at a juvenile care facility. After the assault, she attempted to take her own life by jumping from a fifth-floor window, suffering injuries that left her paraplegic.
Her father has tried to stop the procedure by appealing to the courts for nearly two years, but authorities rejected the appeals, ruling that the young woman’s decision was free, informed, and reaffirmed.
The Spanish far-right party VOX used the message to criticize the government of Pedro Sánchez for allowing the practice of euthanasia.
Bukele seized on the case’s virality to target human rights organizations.
“Look at the whole case, from the beginning to the outcome they seek; every single step is part of the ‘human rights protection’ achieved through their struggles and victories,” he wrote on X.
The president has intensified his criticism of human rights organizations since the publication of a report by the International Group of Experts for the Investigation of Human Rights Violations (GIPES), which found indications that the Salvadoran state may have committed crimes against humanity during the state of exception.
The report makes a series of recommendations to the Bukele government. Among them: ending the state of exception, withdrawing the military from public security duties, and creating an independent commission to review the cases of people allegedly detained arbitrarily.
“We will never listen to them, no matter how much they attack us,” Bukele said in his recent tweet. “You have nothing to come and tell us; if anything, we should be the ones denouncing you for what you do to women like Noelia,” he wrote.
The decision in Noelia’s case was approved by a Barcelona court and upheld by multiple bodies, including the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights.
Bukele insisted on attributing the case to human rights organizations.
“The world urgently needs to free itself from these organizations, which are nothing more than law firms for criminals, who would LITERALLY rather kill the victims than protect them,” he stated.

El presidente Nayib Bukele volvió a criticar la labor de organizaciones de derechos humanos en su cuenta oficial de la red social X. En esta ocasión el mandatario afirmó que “el mundo necesita urgentemente liberarse de estas organizaciones” y que no escucharán sus opiniones “jamás”.
La postura fue compartida junto a una publicación que habla sobre el caso de Noelia, una joven de 25 años con paraplejia que solicitó la eutanasia en España y que recibirá el procedimiento este jueves. El caso se ha vuelto viral luego de que la joven otorgó una entrevista televisiva explicando los motivos que la llevaron a tomar esa decisión.
De acuerdo con lo reportado por medios españoles, Noelia fue víctima de una violación múltiple en un centro de menores. Tras ese evento intentó quitarse la vida saltando de un quinto piso, caída que le provocó una lesión que la dejó parapléjica.
Su padre ha intentado detener la decisión apelando ante los tribunales por casi dos años, pero las autoridades rechazaron los recursos indicando que la decisión de la joven es una decisión libre, informada y reiterada.
El partido español de ultraderecha VOX ha utilizado el mensaje para criticar al Gobierno de Pedro Sánchez por permitir la práctica de la eutanasia.
Bukele aprovechó la viralidad del caso para señalar a las organizaciones de derechos humanos.
“Vean todo el caso, desde el inicio hasta el final que pretenden; cada uno de los pasos es parte de la ‘tutela de derechos humanos’ conseguida con sus luchas y conquistas”, escribió en X.
El mandatario ha arreciado sus críticas a organizaciones de derechos humanos desde la publicación de un informe del Grupo Internacional de Expertas y Expertos para la Investigación de Violaciones a Derechos Humanos (GIPES), el cual establece que hay indicios de que el Estado salvadoreño podría haber cometido crímenes de lesa humanidad durante el régimen de excepción.
El informe hace una serie de recomendaciones al Gobierno de Bukele. Entre ellas, dar fin al régimen de excepción, retirar al ejército de las tareas de seguridad ciudadana y crear una comisión independiente que revise los casos de personas presuntamente detenidas arbitrariamente.
“Jamás los escucharemos, no importa cuánto nos ataquen”, indicó Bukele en su tuit reciente. “No tienen nada que venir a decirnos; más bien, nosotros deberíamos estar denunciándolos a ustedes por lo que le hacen a mujeres como Noelia”, indica.
La decisión sobre el caso de Noelia fue avalada por un juzgado de Barcelona y ratificada por varias instancias, incluyendo el Tribunal Constitucional y el Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos.
Bukele insistió en atribuir el caso a organizaciones de derechos humanos.
“El mundo necesita urgentemente liberarse de estas organizaciones, que no son más que los bufetes de abogados de los delincuentes, que prefieren LITERALMENTE matar a las víctimas en lugar de protegerlas”, indicó.
