Members of the Movimiento de Víctimas del Régimen (Movement of Victims of the Regime, MOVIR) gathered at the José Martí roundabout to march to the Civic Plaza in the capital. According to Samuel Ramírez, the purpose was to denounce mass trials, given that these judicial proceedings consider only the evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office, without allowing the defense to present proof of community ties or witnesses to support the innocence of the accused.

Ramírez stated that these proceedings seek to convict innocent people without establishing individual responsibility.

Ramírez also said that Sunday’s march aimed to bring visibility to the plight of those detained under the state of exception, adding that the mobilization seeks to expose the fact that there are families who have not seen their relatives since the moment of their arrest.

The leader asserted that the country is not experiencing an atmosphere of peace, but rather one of “perpetual mourning,” due to deaths recorded in detention centers and arrests that, he claims, have swept up innocent people.

He also announced that the movement is preparing a fourth constitutional challenge against the state of exception, on the grounds that the conditions that originally justified its implementation no longer exist.

Samuel Ramírez stated that, with institutional channels closed off, public denunciation has become the primary weapon in the victims’ struggle.

Los juicios masivos son para encarcelar a inocentes: MOVIR

Los integrantes del Movimiento de Víctimas del Régimen (Movir) se congregaron en el redondel José Martí para marchar hasta la plaza cívica de esta capital. El objetivo, según dijo Samuel Ramírez, es denunciar los juicios masivos, ya que durante esos procesos judiciales se toma en cuenta únicamente la prueba presentada por la Fiscalía, sin permitir que la defensa presente arraigos o testigos que respalden la inocencia de los acusados.

Ramírez aseguró que estas diligencias buscan condenar a personas inocentes sin individualizar responsabilidades.

Ramírez también dijo que la marcha que se realizó el domingo tiene el objetivo de visibilizar la situación de las personas detenidas bajo el régimen de excepción y señaló que la movilización busca evidenciar que existen familias que no han vuelto a ver a sus parientes desde su captura.

El dirigente aseguró que el país no vive un ambiente de tranquilidad, sino de “luto permanente”, debido a las muertes registradas en centros penales y a las detenciones que, según afirma, incluyen a personas inocentes.

Asimismo, anunció que el movimiento prepara un cuarto recurso de inconstitucionalidad contra el régimen de excepción, al considerar que ya no existen las condiciones que justificaron su implementación inicial.

Samuel Ramírez indicó que, ante el cierre de espacios institucionales, la denuncia pública se ha convertido en la principal herramienta de lucha para las víctimas.
