Authorities have disclosed a single arrest after President Bukele, on Saturday, 21 June 2025, directed security forces to establish a military and police cordon in a sector of the Ilopango district, east of San Salvador.
The Minister of Public Security, Gustavo Villatoro, identified the detainee as René Alejandro V. E., known by the aliases “Pirata” and “Mapachín,” and described him as a member of the MS Criminal Gangster Locos Salvatruchos clique of Mara Salvatrucha (MS).
Villatoro affirmed that the suspect would be sent to prison, although he did not specify whether the man had a criminal record or was wanted by the Prosecutor’s Office or the courts.
On the same day, President Bukele deployed 1,500 soldiers and 500 police officers to seal off San Bartolo, Ilopango, because gang members were reportedly returning in an effort to reorganize. Bukele said the regrouping was confirmed through citizen complaints and police intelligence.
San Salvador
On Monday morning, 23 June 2025, the Policía Nacional Civil (National Civil Police, PNC) announced the arrest of José Germán V. on Venezuela Boulevard at Las Camelias Avenue, in San Salvador. The suspect bore tattoos referencing the 18 Sureños gang. According to the PNC, he will be charged with the crime of unlawful association.
Santa Ana
The PNC reported that José Alexander C. S. was taken into custody for allegedly threatening residents of El Cipresal hamlet and blocking vendors’ access. He is also accused of belonging to MS, and the PNC stated that he has prior records for illegal restriction of free movement and aggravated assault.
Usulután
In Santiago de María, northern Usulután, the PNC arrested Kevin Alexander Q. after he allegedly struck another man in the face during a social gathering. The victim was transported to a medical facility. The PNC said the detainee will remain in holding cells on an assault charge.
Presunto pandillero capturado tras despliegue de miles de militares y policías en Ilopango
Una detención ha sido el resultado que las autoridades han hecho público luego de que el pasado sábado (21.06.2025) el presidente Nayib Bukele ordenó a establecer un cerco militar y policial en un sector del distrito de Ilopango, San Salvador Este.
El ministro de Seguridad Pública, Gustavo Villatoro, informó que René Alejandro V. E. a quien identificó con el alias de “Pirata” o “Mapachín” es un pandillero de la célula de la MS Criminal Gangster Locos Salvatruchos.
Villatoro aseguró que sería llevado a prisión, aunque no reveló si el sospechoso tenía antecedentes o era requerido por la Fiscalía o un tribunal por procesos pendientes.
El sábado, Nayib Bukele ordenó que 1,500 soldados y 500 policías establecieran un cerco en San Bartolo, Ilopango, debido a que pandilleros habrían regresado y buscaban reorganizarse.
Según Bukele, este intento por reagruparse de los pandilleros fue confirmado mediante denuncias de ciudadanos e inteligencia policial.
La mañana de este lunes (23.06.2025), la PNC reportó la captura de José German V. en el bulevar Venezuela y la avenida Las Camelias, en San Salvador.
El sospechoso tenía tatuajes alusivos a la Pandilla 18 Sureños y la PNC indicó que sería detenido por el delito de agrupaciones ilícitas.
Santa Ana
La Policía Nacional Civil reportó la captura de un hombre que fue señalado de amenazar a habitantes del caserío El Cipresal, en Santa Ana, y restringir el paso a vendedores.
José Alexander C. S. fue señalado además de ser integrante de la MS y la PNC reveló que tenía antecedentes por limitación ilegal a la libre circulación y lesiones agravadas.
Usulután
En Santiago de María, Usulután Norte, un sujeto fue capturado luego de que atacó y lesionó en el rostro a otro hombre con el que departía.
Kevin Alexander Q. fue detenido por la PNC, que no dio más detalles sobre el motivo del ataque. La víctima fue trasladada a un centro asistencial. El detenido permanecerá bajo custodia en bartolinas por el delito de lesiones, indicó la PNC.
