Sources within the Instituto Salvadoreño del Seguro Social (ISSS) (Salvadoran Social Security Institute) have confirmed to Radio YSUCA that, in a meeting with community clinic staff, they were notified of the closure of those clinics. Employees do not know whether they will be reassigned or if their positions will be eliminated.

A few months ago, this media outlet corroborated that personnel from the ISSS administrative tower were being transferred, while some were teleworking. According to institutional sources, these moves are due to a remodeling of the tower to repair damage caused by tremors. Another source told Radio YSUCA that workers will be relocated to smaller offices in San Salvador.

Additionally, it was reported that the number of administrative workers would be reduced and that retirees would receive medical care at clinics under the Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL) (Ministry of Health). According to the individual who reported this, it is part of a merger process between the ISSS and MINSAL that began a year ago.

Meanwhile, internal sources indicated that inmates in a trust phase have begun arriving at Hospital Amatepec to carry out cleaning and maintenance tasks. The ISSS cleaning staff’s contracts will expire on the 30th of this month, and it is rumored they will not be renewed, leaving those responsibilities to the inmates. Likewise, it has been announced that Hospital Amatepec will serve as the pilot project for the merger between the ISSS and MINSAL.

Radio YSUCA attempted to obtain an official response regarding these changes. They requested an interview with the director of the Social Security system, Dr. Mónica Ayala, or a representative of the Health Subdirectorate. The institution stated that the request needed to be sent by email to press officer Kenia Mejía. However, no response has been received.

Denuncian cierre de clínicas comunales del ISSS

Fuentes internas del Instituto Salvadoreño del Seguro Social (ISSS) han confirmado a Radio YSUCA que, en una reunión con el personal de las clínicas comunales, se les notificó el cierre de dichas clínicas. Los empleados desconocen si serán reubicados o si sus plazas serán suprimidas.

Hace unos meses, este medio corroboró que el personal de la torre administrativa del ISSS estaba siendo trasladado y, algunos otros, haciendo teletrabajo. Según fuentes de la institución, estos movimientos se deben a una remodelación de la torre para reparar daños ocasionados por temblores. Otra fuente aseguró a Radio YSUCA que los trabajadores serán reubicados en oficinas más pequeñas en San Salvador.

Además, se informó que se reducirá el número de trabajadores administrativos y que los pensionados recibirán atención médica en clínicas del Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL). De acuerdo con el denunciante, esto forma parte de un proceso de fusión entre el ISSS y el MINSAL, iniciado hace un año.

Por otra parte, fuentes internas señalaron que, en el hospital Amatepec, han comenzado a llegar reos en fase de confianza para realizar labores de limpieza y mantenimiento. El contrato del personal de limpieza del ISSS vencerá el 30 de este mes y se ha escuchado que no será renovado, dejando esas tareas en manos de los reos. Asimismo, se ha notificado que el hospital Amatepec será el proyecto piloto para la fusión entre el ISSS y el MINSAL.

Radio YSUCA intentó obtener una respuesta oficial sobre estos cambios. Se solicitó una entrevista con la directora del Seguro Social, doctora Mónica Ayala o un representante de la subdirección de Salud. Desde la institución indicaron que la solicitud debía enviarse por correo a la encargada de prensa, Kenia Mejía. Sin embargo, el correo no ha sido respondido.
