Magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) have agreed to lay off more workers, including technical, operational, and communications unit personnel, according to internal sources from the institution.

In total, 175 layoffs have been reported since the collegial body, led by Roxana Soriano de Viaud, a former candidate for lawmaker with the ruling Nuevas Ideas party, took over the TSE on September 27.

Just on December 6, around 140 employees were notified of their layoffs, with the justification that their contracts would not be renewed for 2025.

Three TSE employees, who spoke to *LA PRENSA GRÁFICA* on the condition of anonymity, highlighted that those being dismissed include members of the Board of Directors of the Sindicato de Trabajadoras y Trabajadores del TSE (STRATSE) (Union of TSE Workers) and personnel assigned to the Directorate of Electoral Organization.

One worker indicated that the new TSE authorities are “pressuring” notified employees to vacate their positions.

“With the latest layoffs, more than 140 positions will not have their contracts renewed. They are being asked to take voluntary retirement in exchange for severance pay,” they said.

According to employees, by not renewing contracts, the TSE refrains from formally closing positions and keeps them available to then fill them with trusted personnel.

“The agreement establishes that they will not renew contracts to avoid formally eliminating these positions within the institution. They have not respected that some of these employees are individuals with disabilities or cancer survivors,” another worker affirmed.

One TSE employee told this outlet that for staff to continue in their roles, they have to be “submissive and loyal to whatever they are ordered to do.” On November 8, at least 29 layoffs were reported, while on September 27, the collegial body requested resignations from six department heads.

The STRATSE union has denounced that employees at the institution are facing workplace harassment, intimidation, and psychological pressure to leave their positions under the new magistrates’ leadership.

This newspaper has repeatedly sought the magistrates’ stance regarding the dismissal allegations, but there has been no response.

The union group has warned that the environment within the TSE does not allow employees to work under dignified conditions, as the harassment from the new authorities has resulted in workplace insecurity and crisis.

Reportan 140 nuevos despidos en el TSE: “No han respetado que sean personas con discapacidad o sobrevivientes de cáncer”

Los magistrados del Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE) acordaron despedir a más trabajadores, entre personal técnico, operativo y de la unidad de comunicaciones, informaron fuentes internas de la institución.

Los despidos suman en total 175 desde que el organismo colegiado presidido por Roxana Soriano de Viaud, exprecandidata a diputada del partido oficialista Nuevas Ideas, tomó posesión del TSE el 27 de septiembre pasado.

Solo el 6 de diciembre pasado, unos 140 empleados fueron notificados de sus despidos bajo la justificación de que no les renovarán el contrato para el 2025.

Tres empleados del TSE, que hablaron bajo la condición de anonimato con LA PRENSA GRÁFICA, señalaron que entre los despedidos están empleados que integran la Junta Directiva del Sindicato de Trabajadoras y Trabajadores del TSE (STRATSE) y personal destacado en Dirección de Organización Electoral.

Un trabajador señaló que las nuevas autoridades del TSE “están presionando” a los empleados notificados sobre los despidos para que dejen sus puestos.

“Con los últimos despidos son más de 140 plazas a las que no van a renovar contratos, les piden que se amparen al retiro voluntario para darles una indemnización”, dijo.

Para los empleados, al no renovar los contratos, el TSE se abstiene de cerrar plazas y las mantiene vigentes para colocar a empleados de confianza.

“El acuerdo lo que establece es que no van a renovar contrato para no suprimir plazas en la institución. No han respetado que sean personas con discapacidad o sobrevivientes de cáncer”, afirmó otro trabajador.

Uno de los empleados del TSE que habló con este medio explicó que para que el personal pueda continuar con sus empleos, deben ser “sumisos, fiel a lo que les ordenen”. El 8 de noviembre hubo al menos 29 despidos mientras que el 27 de septiembre, el organismo colegiado pidió la renuncia a seis jefaturas.

El STRATSE ha denunciado que los empleados de la institución están enfrentando acoso laboral, intimidación y presiones psicológicas para abandonar sus puestos de trabajo desde la llegada de los nuevos magistrados.

Este periódico ha buscado en repetidas ocasiones la postura de los magistrados ante las denuncias de despido, pero no ha habido respuesta.

La gremial sindical ha advertido que el ambiente al interior del TSE no les permite a los empleados trabajar en condiciones dignas porque están en un ambiente de inseguridad laboral y crisis por el hostigamiento de las nuevas autoridades.
