The digital newspaper El Faro published a report on Wednesday, based on audios they obtained, of a conversation involving Alejandro Muyshondt, the late former Security Advisor, Ibrajim, brother of President Bukele, and Xavier Zablah Bukele, the president’s cousin.
In the conversations, Muyshondt assures them that he and his team have strategies ready to “take down” the IT system of the Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE) (Supreme Electoral Tribunal), “burn computers”. And most seriously, according to the publication: That they had “stolen” the source code of the electoral body.
“Well, going to the fact that on December 14, I snagged the source code of that crap (…) complete, and I told you and N (“ene”) and (inaudible)…,” Muyshondt stated to Zablah Bukele, who is the president of the Nuevas Ideas party, according to what was published by El Faro.
This meeting allegedly took place on February 9, 2021, a year after President Bukele took over the Legislative Assembly to demand the approval of a loan.
At the end of February 2021, municipal and legislative elections were held, in which the ruling party obtained a large majority in Congress. In May of that same year, during the inauguration of the new legislature, magistrates of the Corte Suprema de Justicia (CSJ) (Supreme Court of Justice) were removed, as well as the Attorney General of the Republic.
In the conversation, Muyshondt admits that he illegally obtained the source code (which is used to run specific software), as he suspected there would be fraud in the late February elections.
To carry out the sabotage of the TSE, the former security advisor also proposes purchasing services using bitcoins, in a money laundering scheme to leave no traces.
In response to these proposals and offers, Zablah raises objections, due to the legal and political implications it would cause, according to the publication.
Another conversation revealed by El Faro, which allegedly occurred at the end of May and beginning of June 2021, is between Muyshondt and Ibrajim Bukele. The former reiterates what they did at the electoral tribunal: “we stole the source code from the TSE and discovered there was fraud.”
Ibrajim – according to the article – did not pay much attention to the advisor’s claims.
An engineer who spoke with El Faro explained that the electoral software was only installed 24 hours before the elections. And that what was used in December 2020 and early 2021 were prototypes, that is, test programs.
Muyshondt was arrested in August 2023, accused of disclosing confidential State information and other crimes. He passed away in February 2024, following a progressive deterioration in health.
Audios en poder de El Faro revelan que software del TSE fue plagiado en 2020
El periódico digital El Faro publicó el miércoles un reportaje, a partir de audios en su poder, de una conversación entre Alejandro Muyshondt, el fallecido ex asesor de Seguridad, Ibrajim, hermano del presidente Bukele, y Xavier Zablah Bukele, primo del mandatario.
En las conversaciones, Muyshondt les asegura que él y su equipo tiene listas las estrategias para “botar” el sistema informático del Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE), “quemar computadoras”. Y lo más grave, según la publicación: Que se había “robado” el código fuente del organismo electoral.
“Bueno, yendo a que el 14 de diciembre yo me huevié el código fuente de esa mierda (…) completo, y yo le dije a vos y a N (“ene”) y a (inaudible)…”, le manifestó Muyshondt a Zablah Bukele, quien es el presidente del partido Nuevas Ideas, de acuerdo a lo publicado por El Faro.
Esta reunión se habría realizado el 9 de febrero de 2021, un año después de que el presidente Bukele se tomó la Asamblea Legislativa para exigir la aprobación de un préstamo.
A finales de febrero de 2021 se realizaron las elecciones municipales y legislativas, en las que el oficialismo obtuvo una amplia mayoría en el Congreso. En mayo de ese mismo año, en la toma de posesión de la nueva legislatura, fueron destituidos magistrados de la Corte Suprema de Justicia (CSJ), así como el fiscal general de la República.
En la plática, Muyshondt admite que suatrajo ilegalmente el código fuente (que sirve para ejecutar un software determinado), ya que sospechaba que se realizaría un fraude en los comicios de finales de febrero.
Para hacer el trabajo de boicot al TSE, e ex asesor de seguridad también propone la compra de servicios por medio de bitcoins, en un entramado de “lavado de pisto” para no dejar huellas.
Ante estos planteamientos y ofrecimientos, Zablah hace reparos, debido a las implicaciones legales y políticas que esto provocaría, según la publicación.
Otra conversación revelada por El Faro, que habría ocurrido a finales de mayo y principios de junio de 2021, es entre Muyshondt y Ibrajim Bukele. El primero reitera lo que hicieron en el tribunal electoral: “nos robamos el código fuente del TSE y descubrimos que había fraude”.
Ibrajim – de acuerdo al artículo – no dio mayor atención a los señalamientos del asesor de seguridad.
Un ingeniero que conversó con El Faro les explicó que el software electoral sólo fue instalado 24 horas antes de los comicios. Y que lo usado en diciembre de 2020 e inicios de 2021 eran prototipos, es decir, programas de prueba.
Muyshondt fue detenido en agosto de 2023, acusado de divulgar información confidencial del Estado y de otros delitos. Falleció en febrero de 2024, luego de un progresivo deterioro de salud.
