The outgoing Legislative Assembly, whose term ends on April 30, has been described as disastrous by the executive director of Acción Ciudadana, Eduardo Escobar. The lawyer emphasized that this is the legislature that has most violated the rule of law and the Constitution of the Republic.
Escobar stated that the outgoing legislators have repeatedly violated the Magna Carta. As an example of this, he mentioned the dismissal of judges from the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Attorney General, Raúl Melara. He added that the changes they made have affected judicial independence by appointing officials without proper procedures.
Furthermore, the executive director of Acción Ciudadana explained that this legislature has been a “Zombie Assembly” due to the working style that characterized them.
Recently, Cesia Rivas, general secretary of the Vamos party, explained that the 2021-2024 legislature failed to approve 140 important initiatives promoted by various political parties and some from the Executive branch.
She pointed out that Congresswoman Claudia Ortiz submitted 31 proposals that were not approved. Among these, the Transitional Justice Law proposal stands out, which was worked on with organizations of victims of the armed conflict but was not approved.

Escobar manifestó que los legisladores que están por salir han procedido a violar reiteradamente la Carta Magna. Mencionó como ejemplo de este señalamiento, la destitución de magistrados de la Sala de lo Constitucional de la Corte Suprema de Justicia y del Fiscal General, Raúl Melara. Añadió que los cambios que hicieron han afectado la independencia judicial al nombrar a funcionarios sin procedimientos adecuados.
Es más, el director ejecutivo de Acción Ciudadana explicó que esta legislatura ha sido una “Asamblea Zombie” debido al estilo de trabajo que les caracterizó.
Recientemente, Cesia Rivas, secretaria general del partido Vamos, explicó que la legislatura 2021-2024 dejó de aprobar 140 iniciativas importantes que fueron impulsadas por diversos partidos políticos y algunas del órgano Ejecutivo.
Manifestó que la diputada Claudia Ortiz presentó 31 propuestas que no fueron aprobadas. Entre estas destaca la propuesta de Ley de Justicia Transicional que fue trabajada con las organizaciones de víctimas del conflicto armado, pero que no se aprobó.
