The Magisterial Unit – made up of at least 11 teachers’ unions – informed that, in view of the lack of response from the Ministry of Education (MINED) regarding the salary revision requested since 2022, next January they will carry out a mobilization with teachers from all over the country.
The unions explained that the pressure measure would be carried out due to the lack of a favorable response on the salary leveling they have demanded since 2022, when the MINED created work tables for the curricular reform and later teachers requested that the dignity of the teaching profession be taken into account.
On October 25 of that same year, the unions submitted a joint proposal to the Minister of Education, José Mauricio Pineda, which proposed disbursing $413 million from the State’s coffers to implement the salary adjustment established in the Teaching Career Law.
However, the teachers did not receive a response to this request. On the contrary, the work tables were suspended without any explanation and it was not until February 2023 that they were contacted by Pineda to inform them that there was not enough money to finance the adjustment.

Advertencia de movilizacion en enero de 2024 de docentes ante negativa en revision salarial
La Unidad Magisterial —conformada por al menos 11 sindicatos de docentes— informó que, ante la falta de respuesta del ministerio de Educación (MINED) sobre la revisión salarial solicitada desde 2022, en enero próximo realizarán una movilización con docentes de todo el país.
Las gremiales explicaron que la medida de presión se estaría llevando a cabo ante la falta de una respuesta favorable sobre la nivelación salarial que han exigido desde 2022, cuando el MINED creó mesas de trabajo para la reforma curricular y posteriormente los docentes solicitaron que se tomara en cuenta la dignificación del magisterio.
El 25 de octubre de ese mismo año, los sindicatos entregaron al titular de Educación, José Mauricio Pineda, una propuesta conjunta que planteaba desembolsar $413 millones de las arcas del Estado para ejecutar el ajuste de salario establecido en la Ley de la Carrera Docente.
No obstante, los docentes no obtuvieron una respuesta a esa petición. Contrario a eso, se suspendieron las mesas de trabajo sin ninguna explicación y fue hasta febrero de 2023 que fueron contactados por Pineda para informarles que no había dinero suficiente para financiar el ajuste.
