In an effort to resolve the growing issues in the healthcare system, representatives of the Medical College submitted a letter to the Minister of Public Health, Francisco Alabí, requesting a meeting with various stakeholders involved in the sector.
According to representatives of the Medical College, the intention is to establish constructive dialogue that allows addressing the difficulties faced by the medical community and finding effective solutions.
“The problems in our healthcare system have become increasingly intense, and we believe it is crucial that these matters are addressed in a friendly discussion table,” said Roberto Montoya, president of the Medical College.
Montoya also highlighted that the lack of positions for residents and interns has unbalanced the system, creating difficulties in providing medical services and in the right to education for healthcare professionals.
The Medical College seeks to gather key actors from the sector, including the Ministry of Health, the Salvadoran Social Security Institute, and the union of working doctors, in order to analyze current problems and find solutions that benefit both sides.
Among the problems raised are the lack of payment for night shifts, delays in salaries, and other benefits such as bonuses and professional development opportunities. The medical community expresses its concern for the quality of patient care and seeks to guarantee appropriate working conditions for healthcare professionals.
Faced with the possibility of not being heard, the representatives of the Medical College did not rule out the adoption of additional actions to defend their rights and improve the conditions of the healthcare system. However, they emphasized their commitment to dialogue and the pursuit of collaborative solutions before resorting to more drastic measures.
In addition to the non-payment of night shifts, doctors hope to resolve the suspension of more than 50 internal doctors from the National Hospital Rosales and the investigation into alleged malpractice by a doctor in San Miguel.
Colegio Médico busca diálogo con ministro de Salud para abordar crisis en personal de salud
En un esfuerzo por resolver los crecientes problemas en el sistema de salud, representantes del Colegio Médico entregaron una carta al ministro de Salud Pública, Francisco Alabí, en la que solicitan una reunión con los diferentes actores involucrados del sector.
Según los representantes del Colegio Médico la intención es establecer un diálogo constructivo que permita abordar las dificultades que enfrenta la comunidad médica y encontrar soluciones efectivas.
“Los problemas en nuestro sistema de salud se han vuelto cada vez más intensos, y creemos que es crucial que estos asuntos se aborden en una mesa de discusión cordial”, dijo Roberto Montoya, presidente del Colegio Médico Médico.
Montoya también destacó que la falta de plazas para residentes e internos ha desequilibrado el sistema, generando dificultad para prestar servicios médicos y en el derecho a la educación de los profesionales de la salud.
El Colegio Médico busca reunir a actores clave del sector, incluyendo al Ministerio de Salud, al Instituto Salvadoreño del Seguro Social y al sindicato de médicos trabajadores, con el fin de analizar las problemáticas actuales y encontrar soluciones que beneficien a ambas partes
Entre las problemáticas planteadas se encuentran la falta de pago de nocturnidades, retrasos en salarios y otros beneficios como bonos y oportunidades de desarrollo profesional. La comunidad médica expresa su preocupación por la calidad de la atención a los pacientes y busca garantizar condiciones laborales adecuadas para los profesionales de la salud.
Ante la posibilidad de no ser escuchados, los representantes del Colegio Médico no descartaron la adopción de acciones adicionales para defender sus derechos y mejorar las condiciones del sistema de salud, sin embargo, recalcaron su compromiso con el diálogo y la búsqueda de soluciones colaborativas antes de recurrir a medidas más drásticas.
Además del impago de nocturnidades, los médicos esperan resolver la suspensión de más de 50 médicos internos del Hospital Nacional Rosales y la investigación por presunta mala praxis de un médico en San Miguel.
