President Nayib Bukele sent to the Legislative Assembly an initiative to reform the Telecommunications Law that requires, among other things, that telephone companies keep a record of their users.

The reforms also include that telephone companies must deliver to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) registration data of the telephone line or lines under investigation, call records for a given period or other type of electronic communication.

The reform also pointed out that documents and photographs of users must be stored, also the place where the sale and activation took place must be located. “This is totally unnecessary to make a contract,” said Laura Nathalie Hernandez, a specialist in technology, data protection and information security.
